“El Bosque Residencial” Ideas competition

Zapopan, Jalisco, 2007

A mixed-use development was designed on a 12,121-square-meter site, incorporating an office tower, single-family homes, and retail spaces.

The project was conceived with the aim of fostering coexistence and the growth of each of these activities.

The housing complex is organized into U-shaped horizontal modules arranged around a large central garden.

Since it is aimed at a young and dynamic market, the design allows each module to be stacked vertically in different configurations, depending on the residents’ needs and preferences.

The upper modules feature double-height living spaces.

The L-shaped complex features a proposed twelve-story office building on the north side, with two underground parking levels.

This layout allows the owner to have one tenant per floor or to subdivide the spaces for two or more tenants.

All MEP systems are located along the west facade, significantly reducing energy consumption through the intelligent use of shading.

To achieve this, an exterior metal skin was proposed that allows the angle of opening to be adjusted and effectively filters light.

This facade was designed to require minimal maintenance.
