“Casa i Cocina” Shop
Guadalajara, Jalisco, 2003-2004
Renovation of an old house into a home goods store.
The building was constructed in the 1960s, and its original design underwent countless alterations over a period of forty years.
The goal was to preserve the building’s external dimensions and comply with local authorities’ guidelines.
Based on the idea that a store is a large display window, the main façade was modified to include a large double-height window, while preserving the original stone base.
A new roof was extended over the rear terrace, and the façade was topped with a large window covered by a lattice.
The project features a two-sided glass façade—one facing the courtyard and the other facing the street.
