BENEBIÓN Plant
Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, 2007 - 2008
Benebión is a company dedicated to phytosanitization using atomic energy.
The phytosanitary process using (nuclear) radiation is a method for sterilizing and controlling pests in perishable products. Because the operation relies on highly radioactive materials, the facility is located in the middle of the San Luis Potosí desert, near the city of Matehuala.
The solution is simple and cost-effective: a structure made of steel and KR18 panels. All operations involving radioactive isotopes take place within a concrete bunker built to the highest international safety standards.
